Lovely Sunny Sunday
When we came home from church this morning, D was back
I cooked a quick leftover lunch (all of us away since Thursday meant v little in the fridge!) which was surprisingly ok, then we headed for Castle Square in the city centre where there’s one of the new big screens and saw the closing ceremony and handover – I with my “weird English blood” (husband’s words) was quite moved by the spectacle, flags and everything; B chased pigeons, roared and tried to climb in the fountains; D was impressed despite himself, and grinned about the Delilah moment (“Sing the Nation”). Wonder of wonders – it wasn’t raining! This is a first for the last two months of “summer” especially on weekends and especially on days when we can spend an afternoon together
We just chilled out, enjoyed time together as the three of us, it was good.
Afternoon was home stuff, just catching up after time away, mainly unpacking and ironing, then D took B to the park with his new bike (again, unusual given the weather the last few weeks) to give me an hour off; supper, bath and bedtime went well (not always a given recently) and now we are relaxing in front of the telly.
a nothing special but really rather special sort of day
On the flip side, poor old husband is also deeply hung-over, food-poisoned (NOT from lunch!!) and feeling particularly sorry for himself … but through the worst, and he said it’s good to be home and together again.
